In the tradition Voodoo Met Kalfou is the dark half of Pope Legba, his double, the implementation of Legba in the realm of darkness. His name translated from Creole means Lord of the crosses and is the true master of magic.
Metaphysically speaking Legba, at the fall of the day it is reflected in the Abyssal Waters and reflects all that He is not specularly. What emerges is a double with an opposite morality. If Legba is light, Met Kalfou is darkness, if Legba is peace, Met Kalfou is war. If Legba represents the cross with four arms, which represents the four cardinal paths, Met Kalfou represents an X, to represent the four medial paths. It is the alternative. An alternative which, however, does not conflict with the laws of God (Bon Dieu) but is part of and completes them. Legbha Atibon is midday, the Sun in full splendor, Met Kalfou is the midnight sun, the hour of magic. Kalfou is the protector of all sorcerers and those involved in occult sciences. He rules all the spirits of the night and the lost souls. Kalfou can unleash the demons of bad luck, misfortune and deliberate and unjust destruction in the world, but it is also the Loa that can defend against this kind of problem and that can give everything that man has always wanted: love, sex, money, success, beauty.
