To do this, the author preferred to document himself as little as possible from official written sources, instead going to dig into the historical memory of oral traditions secretly handed down to the present day by the last Pupilli della Luna, but also using particular mediumistic practices such as: visions, dreams and whispers. . The result that came to light thanks to this long and complex research is the portrait of a powerful lineage of witches, set mainly in those territories that later became the regions of northern and central Italy, which is based on the historical period that elapses from late Middle Ages until the Renaissance.
