Wonderful resin statue depicting the Virgin of Guadalupe (Virgen de Guadalupe), finished by hand. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the name by which Catholics revere Mary as a result of an apparition that took place in Mexico in 1531. According to the traditional tale, Cuauhtlatoatzin Mary appeared to Juan Diego, an Aztec convert to Christianity, on the hill of Tepeyac north of Mexico City, several times between 9 and 12 December 1531. The name Guadalupe was dictated by Mary herself to Juan Diego, some have suggested that the transcript in Spanish Aztec Coatlaxopeuh expression, “she who crushes the serpent” (see Genesis 3:14-15). Our Lady of Guadalupe is venerated by Catholics as the patron and queen of the Americas. His feast is celebrated on 12th December, the day of the last apparition. The faithful is called affetuosamente with the diminutive of “La Lupita”. Often, in Mexico, comes to look brighter syncretized Santisima Muerte.
