Beautiful silver-plated metal medal with gold trim representing St. Benedict on one side and the famous cross on the other. The medal of St. Benedict, if blessed by a Benedictine monk, is able to prevent any evil spell and any invoice, but it must be worn regularly and never removed for any reason. St. Benedict’s medal originates from the episodes of his life in which he struggled against the devil and evil influences, which he, the first exorcist in history cast out in the name of the Cross, which is why on each of St. Benedict’s cross-medals there is the motto PAX. The origin of the Cross-medal of St. Benedict is very ancient. Famous is the episode that befell Pope St. Leo IX, when he was still a boy and named Brunone: while he was sleeping he was attacked and bitten by a poisonous toad, reducing him to death, and a few months later, the dying young man had a vision: a luminous staircase from which descended a venerable old man leaning on a staff on which was imprinted the Cross of Christ. With the same, the man touched the boy, miraculously healing him instantly, and as he approached, Brunone recognized in the venerable old man St. Benedict.The Cross of St. Benedict spread in 1600 to Bavaria and from there throughout Christendom. Pope Benedict XIV approved the devotion to the Cross-medal of St. Benedict in 1742.
