The Major Arcana of the Tarot represent universally recognized archetypes, which have always belonged to us. They are emblematic figures that help us get in touch with our most intuitive part, increasing our awareness of ourselves. We can consider them as “ancient sages” who speak to us and give us ideas for our evolution. They are to be considered as a starting point for self-discovery, in an upward spiraling evolutionary process. Jung describes the Archetypes as “models of instinctual behavior”, which universally express human beings. The archetype allows communication between the conscience and the unconscious through symbols and images recognized at a collective level.
